ホノルルマラソン2007における完走データ計測トラブルに関するホノルルマラソン協会からの発表について

ホノルルマラソン協会では現地時間の2月25日に、ホノルルマラソン2007で発生した完走データ計測のトラブルについての対応に関して、以下のようなご報告とお詫びを発表しました。その原文と和訳をご紹介します。

IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT FINISHER DATA

The Honolulu Marathon has completed an exhaustive review of all finishers using finish line video provided by MyMarathonDVD. Approximately 2,400 finishers who were missed by the SAI Timing System on race day have been located. In addition to the missing and inaccurate finish times, there were innumerable other timing errors. This includes starting line times as well as split times along the course.

We are now beginning to mail finisher certificates to all verifiable finishers. When possible the finisher certificate will reflect a "chip" time. If start line data for an individual is not available the certificate will reflect "gun" or "clock" time.

Our focus was to visually identify as many finishers as possible. We believe we have now verified nearly every finisher.However,in a few situations we were not able see a bib or read a bib number clearly as a runner came across the finish line.

If you finished the race and do not receive a finisher certificate by the end of February,please email the Honolulu Marathon office at info@honolulumarathon.org . With the additional information you may be able to provide to us we may be able to locate you in the video.

Unfortunately, due to failure of the SAI timing system,it will not be possible to reconstruct a completely accurate, standardized timing data base for the 2007 Honolulu Marathon,and we will not be able to make any individual corrections in time or place.

We sincerely apologize for the any inconvenience that the failure of the timing system may have caused you. Thank you for your patience while we reconciled as many individual results as we possibly could.

The Honolulu Marathon will be returning to ChampionChip Timing in 2008 and we hope to see as many of you as possible at the finish line in December.

完走データに関する重要なお知らせ

ホノルルマラソン協会は、マイ・マラソンDVDによってフィニッシュラインにおいて撮影されたビデオ上の全ての完走者をチェックする、と言う作業を完了しました。その結果、レース当日のSAI Timing System社による計測ではデータを取得できなかったおよそ2400名の方が発見され完走タイムが記録されました。今回の計測システムの不具合により完走タイムが誤って記録されたり記録されなかったりしたケースが発生したことに加えて、その他の計測地点においても多くの誤りが発見されました。その中には、コース上のスプリットタイムと同様にスタートタイム（それぞれのランナーがスタートラインを追加した時間）も含まれています。

ホノルルマラソン協会では、完走が確認された全ての完走者に対する完走証の発送を開始します。可能な場合は、完走証にチップタイムが反映されています。ただ残念ながら、スタートラインの通過データが記録されていなかった場合は、ガンタイム（クロックタイム）が反映されたものになってしまっています。

私たちが最も注力したのは、できるだけ多くのランナーをビデオ画像から発見することでした。私たちは今回の作業でほぼ全ての完走者が確認できたと考えています。しかしながら、ごくわずかながらランナーがフィニッシュラインを通り過ぎた際のゼッケンが見えない、あるいははっきり番号が確認できないと言うケースが発生しております。
もしも、あなたが完走されたにも拘わらず、2月末までに完走証が届かなかった場合には、ホノルルマラソン協会にご連絡をいただきますようお願いします（*1）。その際に、当日の服装などの追加情報をいただければ、私たちのほうでビデオをチェックして完走時間を特定したいと考えています。

大変残念なことに、計測システムの不具合により、ホノルルマラソン2007年大会における正確で基準となる記録を再構築することはできません。また、個人の完走タイム及び順位の訂正もできません。

ホノルルマラソン協会は、今回の記録計測の不具合によって皆様にお掛けしてしまったご不便、ご迷惑に対して心から深くお詫びいたします。また、私たちが、できる限り多くの完走記録を確認するまでの間、お待ちいただいたことを深く感謝いたします。

ホノルルマラソン協会は、2008年大会での記録計測はChampionChipによる計測にもどすことになります。できることなら、2008年大会のフィニッシュラインにおいて多くの方と再会できることを願っております。
